Verify User ID?

Hi,
In Papaya Social Game Engine SDK Manual page 43, there's a section "Verify User ID".
I am not sure why to use it? If ppy_userid() returns an ID of the user, does it mean that that user doesn't need to be logged to Papaya Social Network?

whenever game starts, it checks user first and automatically logs into Papaya Social Network.
you might want to check if you have correct user or not.
